'Moonlit,' Grand covered jar (Pear series)

$750.00

Beautiful for use, or use just for beauty. A voluptuous jar in a dreamy color and contemporary design. I don't usually play favorites, but this is a piece of which I'm particularly fond. It was also in a juried exhibition at the Harn Museum of Art in Gainesville, FL titled Alchemy: From Dust to Form by jurors Kathy King & Nan Smith.

A satin glaze in a super pale turquoise with a glossy interior version of the same and accent polka dots of tangerine orange.

I throw this form on the potter’s wheel and then alter it and the lid into a soft square shape. The foot is trimmed and then carved for a nice detailed accent giving a little lift and shadow to the base. I also decorate the surface with sponged and trailed slip (the clay version of cake-decorating), swirls and dots of textured pattern.
